What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Leather Binding, Rebound

A fascinating collection of letters exchanged between Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, and Miss J., a woman with whom the Duke had correspondence with for seventeen years (1834 to 1851). Miss J. was an extremely religious younger woman who was determined to 'save the soul' of the much older, and twice widowed, Duke.

The first UK edition of this work.

Edited by Christine Terhume Herrick, an American author and journalist.

Handsomely rebound in quarter morocco with marbled boards and refreshed endpapers.

Condition

Rebound in quarter morocco with marbled boards and refreshed endpapers. Externally, lovely. Internally, binding is loosening in some places, particularly from the half title page to page 16. Pages are bright and clean.
