The first edition of this work. 

An account of Henry Morton Stanley's work in the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition, an expedition with the goal of rescuing the besieged Egyptian governor of Equatoria, Emin Pasha.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, and thirty-two plates.

Collated, complete. 

Thirty-two pages of adverts to the rear, dated January 1890.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. A small amount of loss and lifting to the head and tail of the spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spine is a little faded. A few minor marks to the boards and spine. Light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, binding is a little strained in places. Pages are lightly age-toned with the occasional scattered spot. Folding map is torn.
