Illustrated, Leather Binding

Undated, dated using Copac. This work celebrates the lives of many individuals before they reached adulthood. It includes chapters on Olaf of Norway 'The boy Viking', Marcus of Rome 'The boy Magistrate', Charles of Sweden 'The Boy Conqueror' and Giovanni of Florence 'The boy Cardinal'. Altogether Brooks writes about twelve individuals. Illustrated, with plates by R B Birch and John Schonberg. With the gilt stamp of The City of London Freemen's Orphan School to the front board. The school was established in 1850. A very bright copy of this educational work.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Minor fading to the spine and to the board edges of the rear board. Bookplate removed to the front pastedown. Small mark to the rear board. Binder's stamp to the front pastedown, Bickers and Son. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
