This is a lovely sixth edition collection of various myths and legend, focusing on Germanic myths with the inclusion of some French and English tales as well, including the Carolingian legends, King Arthur and the Holy Grail. The Germanic tales focus on various clans, such as Nibelung, Amelung and Langobardian legends. This copy contains a number of marvellous full plate illustrations in black and white as well as an illustrated frontispiece. Finely bound in full calf leather. Contains an undated prize inscription to a Chrissie P. Cowper for Second English Class from Ettrick Bank, Edinburgh.
Condition
Externally generally smart, with a hole at the bottom of the spine with some loss to the leather. Prize inscription to Chrissie P. Cowper from Ettrick Bank, Edinburgh (undated) to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound, pages bright and clean.
