Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

'fourth thousand' Illustrated throughout, with numerous plates. Frontispiece is close cropped at bottom, cropping an imprint. This work was a great inspirations for other missionaries and many passages and images from this work were used to promote missions.

Condition

In a full pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Prior owner's plate to recto of front endpaper, F h Hilton, Burton on Trent. Stamp to verso of rear endpaper, 003010. Sticker to rear pastedown, The Wills Collection of Photographica Birmingham. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Pages are generally bright with instances of scattered spots throughout. Tide marks across whole of pages 107-116 due to tea stains.
