The first edition of this work.

A limited edition work, limited to three-hundred numbered copies. Volume I is numbered two-hundred and eighty-nine. Volume II is numbered one-hundred and ten. 

An immensely detailed study into the York Minster, looking into the beautiful stained glass windows of the cathedral, which showcase the builders and benefactors of the building. 

Volume I illustrated with a colour frontispiece, ten colour plates, and four monochrome plates. Collated, complete.

Volume II illustrated with a colour frontispiece, one folding pedigree, one colour map, ten colour plates, and two monochrome plates. Collated, complete.

Written by Arthur Purey-Cust, who was the Dean of York from 1880 until his death in 1916.

Condition

In a full cloth binding, rebound with the original cloth spines and decorative front board restored. Externally, generally smart. Some light rubbing to the boards and spines. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Bookplate to the recto to the front endpapers. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Rear hinge of Volume II is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean, with just a couple of light spots and handling marks. Page 431/432 of Volume II is detached but present.
