The sixth edition of this work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Illustrated with 5 full-page illustrations and a further 16 illustrations accompanying the text. Collated complete. Jane Ellen Panton (1847-1923) was an English author who wrote mainly on domestic management but also some works of fiction. In this volume she gives guidance to young householders on how to furnish each room of the house, as well as tips for managing servants, keeping a tidy house, and entertaining friends. It is a charming work offering an insight into Victorian interior design and housekeeping.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart, though faded to the spine with the odd faint mark to the boards. Rear hinge is starting but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean except for some offsetting to the free end papers.
