First edition, in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding.

'The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes' is a sporting project edited by Henry Somerset, the 8th Duke of Beaufort which intended to cover all sports in a collection of works. Many different author's contribute to this series, although this particular work was written solely by the Duke. 

This volume discusses driving horses, with chapters on carriages, sleighing and tandem-driving, among many others. 

Profusely illustrated with twelve full-page illustrations and numerous vignettes. Collated, complete. Illustrations by G. D. Giles and John Sturgess.

With the bookplate of Pantia Ralli.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities and spine. The odd mark to the cloth. Bookplate to front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with the occasional light spotting.
