Translated from the original German into English by Rasmus B. Anderson, an American scholar, and diplomat, who made Rydberg's work accessible to an English-speaking audience. Anderson was instrumental in promoting Scandinavian literature and culture in the United States.
The very scarce first English language edition. The work had initially appeared under the title 'Undersökningar i Germanisk Mythologi'.
Including discussion of the Ancient Aryans, medieval migration sagas, and the Ivalde race. The author draws comparisons between Norse mythology and other Indo-European mythological traditions.
The work includes reference to gods, goddesses, and legendary heroes from Teutonic mythology, and discussion of Ragnarok.
Retaining the original half title. Rebacked, with endpapers renewed.
With the blind stamp of the Royal Historical Institution to the title page.

Rebacked, in the publisher's original cloth binding. With the title of the original cloth back strip laid down to the spine, and retaining the original cloth covered boards. Endpapers renewed. Light handling marks to board perimeters. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, but otherwise clean and bright. Blind stamped to title page.
