First Edition, Illustrated, Rebound

A first edition of Lewis Carroll's final novel, with forty six illustrations by Punch illustrator Harry Furniss. Better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was an English author, poet and mathematician, best- known for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Prior owner's ink inscription to the half title, 'Barwick Sharp Browne, from his affectionate friend Ithulgott. Christmas Day 1889'. The addressee of the children's book would later become a lieutenant Colonel. With three pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.

Condition

Rebound in a contemporary red cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Very lightly rubbed to the rear board, with some rubbing to the joints. The front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout.
