What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Early Edition, Folding Maps, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The very scarce second edition of this geological study of Great Britain, very scarce in all editions.

A fascinating and extremely informative Geological survey of England, Scotland and Wales. The first forty-eight pages are dedicated to a 'Description of the Geological Structure of Great Britain, and the Geological Features of the Several Counties of England and Wales', with the remaining portion of the work dedicated to detailed hand coloured geological maps of various counties and regions.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, folding table, thirty two double page plates, and one folding map, all hand coloured. The final twenty-two double page plates are absent.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with boards clean and bright. Internally, as is common with this edition, the gutter percha binding has failed from page 40 onwards, leaving the majority of leaves loose. Pages otherwise generally clean and bright, with the odd handling mark or spot.
