The scarce first edition of this study of Northamptonshire geology, detailing the region during the Lias, the earliest epoch of the Jurassic period, lasting from between 208 and 178 million years ago.
With two illustrated plates, this work is divided into five sections, and discusses the middle Lias of Northamptonshire stratigraphically, paleontologically and economically, and as a source of water supply and to mitigate floods.
With much of the work taken from articles published by the author in the 'Midland Naturalist'.
With the head of title page removed, a corrigenda leaf tipped in, and an appendix to the rear.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Boards exceptionally clean and bright. Internally, firmly bound. Head of title page has been removed. Light spotting to title page, with pages otherwise clean and bright.
