In this scarce work, Henry Wylde traces the origin, history, and evolution of different musical scales and interval systems from classical times through to the late nineteenth century. Henry Wylde was an English conductor, composer, teacher, and music critic, who helped found the New Philharmonic Society and directed their concerts from 1858 to 1879.

Condition

In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards and the spine, which has two white marks near the head. There is a small tear in the cloth at the front joint. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages throughout.
