This charming work was published as volume VIII of The Boy's Own Bookshelf, which was a popular encyclopedia for boys created alongside the Boy's Own magazine.
This particular volume contains a whole manner of exciting tasks and games, such as 'How to make gymnastic apparatus', 'How to build a model locomotive' and 'Practical hints on taxidermy'.
Edited by G. A. Hutchison, with contributions from many different authors, including Dr. Gordon Stables, Captain Crawley, Rev. A. N. Malan and many others.
Illustrated throughout with over seven hundred vignettes.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, very good, with light bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to the cloth. Spine has darkened slightly. Hinges are a touch strained, but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with scattered spotting to the first and last pages.
