First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The very scarce first edition of this work.

Illustrated with thirty-two plates. Collated, complete.

In this delightful work, Kennard illustrates scenes from his own life and observations made while he fished in Norway in the late nineteenth century.

These angling scenes are charmingly humorous.

Without the advertisements to the rear.

A second edition of this work was published the following year, and is also very scarce.

Condition

In the publisher's original half cloth binding, with pictorial paper covered boards. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light rubbing towards back strip head. Boards lightly age toned, with rubbing to board perimeters. Significant marks, including ink marks, to rear board. Internally, generally firmly bound, but with central six leaves tenderly held to the tail only. Pages bright, with light handling marks throughout. Significant closed tears to fore edges of final two leaves.
