What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

A first trade edition containing James Whistler's public lecture delivered in London, at Cambridge, and at Oxford in 1885; the author supports his belief in "art for art's sake" in opposition to the Victorian concept that put art as a social or moral function of society.

Initially printed in 1885 in a series of twenty five copies privately printed. This is the first trade edition.

In the original publisher's paper wraps.
