The fifth edition of this work, the earliest seen on the market. A little cookery book by Harriet Anne de Salis, prolific author of popular English cookbook and household management works towards the end of the Victorian era. 

With one leaf of advertisements to front and half title. 

Featuring numerous recipes for 'entrees', collected from the best schools of cookery, and the author's personal experience, many recipes entirely original. Containing hot and cold entrees including the recipes for Indian Puffs, Oyster Cutlets, Stuffed Pullet, Chicken Souffle, Turkey a la Marquise, Salmon Rolls, and more. 

Condition

In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding over paper covered boards. Externally sound with shelf wear, minor bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities, boards lightly marked and rubbed. Previous ownership inscription to front free endpaper dated 1916. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean with only occasional minor handling mark and minor odd spotting scattered to occasional leaf.
