In the publisher's original blue cloth, with an illustrative gilt stamp. 

Undated, dated from copy held at Hathi Trust. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece and seven monochrome plates. Collated complete. 

Vividly described by Lieut-General E. F. Burton, who served within the Indian Staff Corps. His work on the sports of India gained popularity upon its release, encouraging him to write about the various other aspects of India, including the city of Madras (now known as Chennai).

Condition

In the original cloth binding with illustrative gilt stamp. Externally, with fading to the spine and rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Marks to the boards. Hinges are weak. Rear hinge may detach with further handling. Contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to the endpapers.
