The first edition of this work.

Part II in the 'Rose's National Biographical Series'. Part I had previously been published in 1886.

An extensive encyclopaedia of biographies, containing short pieces of the lives and work of various eminent Canadian men of the era.

Edited by George Maclean Rose.

Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown, 'Presented by Charles Doney to his father and mother William and Elizabeth Doney, Otawa Canada March 24th 1888, afterwards to be given to W. E. Vanstone by the wish of the grandmother E. Doney.'

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges are starting a little but remain firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean.
