First Edition, Leather Binding, Scarce

A four year run of the schoolboy periodical, with consecutive issues from No. 461, Friday, January 27th, 1888 to No. 570, Monday, November 30th, 1891.

The Eton College Chronicle is the main magazine of the prestigious English school.

The first edition appeared in 1863, and it continues to the present day. 

The Chronicle contains editorials, reports on the societies, sports events, correspondence, community news and major national events.

Articles in these issues include discussions of the Eton Loan Collection, the school library, and the Henley Regatta.

Condition

In half morocco bindings, with cloth covered boards. Rubbing to vols II and III back strips, resulting in losses to leather. Further rubbing to back strip heads and tails. Small areas of damp staining to tail of fore edge of front boards, and head of fore edge of rear boards, resulting in fading to cloth. Front hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with instances of light spotting throughout.
