Billed as the first systematic view of the Welsh aristocracy upon its initial publication, Yorke's work is based on extensive research of historical sources, including ancient Welsh genealogies, medieval chronicles, and royal charters. Yorke traces the origins of the Welsh royal tribes and their lineages, describing their rise and fall, their alliances and conflicts, and their contributions to Welsh history and culture.
With two armorial bookplates to the front pastedown, the first reading 'Theakston', and the second reading 'E. Sloyd Theakston'.
A smart copy of the expanded second edition of Philip Yorke's seminal work of Welsh history.
