The fourth edition of this work. This work is an instructional and educational guide to practical self-culture, a self help guide to the moral mental and physical. Some of the issues focussed on include the moral at home relations between a father and son, the independence of character, conduct of youth, reading tastes, the preservation of physical health, and much more. Written by William Henry Davenport Adams. Adams was a nineteenth century journalist, known for his numerous publications of which there were about one-hundred and forty in total. These include 'Famous Regiments', 'Wonders of the Vegetable World', and 'Famous Ships of the British Navy'. In a smart half calf binding. Incomplete, as lacking the frontispiece and seven plates.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light fading to the spine. Minor rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd scattered spot, mostly to the first and last few pages. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso of the half-title 'September 1889'.
