The life and experiences of Henry Tracey Coxwell, an English aeronaut and writer on ballooning active over the British Isles and continental Europe in the mid-to late nineteenth century. Coxwell's achievements include: establishing and leading two military balloon companies in Cologne, Germany at the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870; leading the first aerial trip in England for purposes of photography; and piloting a British Association flight that achieved a record altitude of at least 29,000 ft. With publisher's advertisements to the rear.

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot or handling mark.
