Millardet's essay is devoted to American vines resistant to phylloxera, following the epidemic that France experienced from 1863 and the serious crisis that followed. Millardet advocated grafting and hybridization to obtain specimens that resisted this scourge.
With a contemporary inscription to the head of series II.
Condition
In the publisher's original paper wraps. Lacking the rear wrap of series III, with front wrap only tenderly held. Inscription to head of series II front wrap. Spotting to wraps. Internally, series II firmly bound. One gathering of series III detached and loosely inserted, with the final gathering lacking. Remaining leaves tender. Pages age toned, but generally clean.
