Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The first and only edition of these reports.

This set includes two geological reports from the summers of 1886 and 1887, respectively, that were carried out under the direction of Professor H. G. Seeley.

This would have been intended as a field report and study guide for members of the Geological Field Class, a group established by the students of the London Society for the Extension of University Teaching.

In the summer of 1886, the students made a series of excursions in order to examine rock deposits found in the Thames Valley. This particular report was printed in 'Literary World' on the 4th of June, 1886.

In the summer of 1887, the Geological Field Class examined Loam Pit Hill, The Upper and Lower Chalk at Caterham Junction and Merstham, and the Chalk and Upper Greensand at Caterham and Godstone. This report is followed with two pages of illustrations recreating the geological beds that they examined.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, excellent. Both texts have a couple of marks to the front wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and very clean, with a bit of age-toning to the pages and the odd spot, particularly in the first and last few pages.
