The Peninsula War was a military conflict fought between 1807 and 1814, as European powers fought for control of the Iberian Peninsula during the Napoleonic Wars.
Written by Sir William Francis Patrick Napier (1785-1860), an important military historian, as well as a soldier in the British Army. His military histories are stated by the Encyclopaedia Britannica to be 'incomparably superior to any other English writer' in the eleventh edition.
Illustrated with fifty-five vignette maps and diagrams detailing the tactics and locations of campaigns.
Complete in six volumes.
Condition
In a half calf binding. Externally smart with slight rubbing to the spines and extremities, resulting in some minor loss to the leather of the extremities in particular. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean bar the occasional spot.
