The fourth edition of this work. A concise and detailed work on New Zealand, looking into the history of New Zealand,a s well as it's natives, government, agriculture, animal life, geology, climate, mineral waters, wool, and more. Illustrated with two folding maps, one folding table, and five plates of tables. Compiled by James Hector, a geologist and surgeon, who had a lengthy scientific career in New Zealand. During that period, he dominated New Zealand's scientific institutions. Institutional stamps to the title page. Collated, complete. Collated from Jisc from a copy held at the University of Cambridge Libraries.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light marks to the boards and spine. Fading to the head of the rear board. Label to the tail of the spine. Rear hinge is broken though board remains attached to the spine by the cloth. Label to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots and marks. Some pages uncut to the fore edge. Closed tear to page 101/102.
