1886 Handbook of Lichfield Cathedral
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Folding Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce volume on Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire, with a folding plate depicting the floor plan of the Cathedral. Following a historical account of the Cathedral, James Hewitt details its internal and external architectural features, and discusses the various deans and bishops who have been seated there. Together with Truro Cathedral and St. Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh, Lichfield Cathedral is one of three cathedrals in the United Kingdom with three spires, and is the only Medieval one of the three. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front wrap, 'E. H. Bates. 12 June 1889'.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original illustrated paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. There are some handling marks to the paper wraps, and a small tear at the front joint near the tail of the spine. A little worn to the extremities to the front cover. Internally, firmly bound. Although there is some foxing to the edge of the text block, pages are generally bright with the occasional spot.
