    Description

    Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

    Fourth Edition from 1886.

    In the publisher's original cloth binding. 

    Illustrations include a frontispiece and various in-text illustrations.

    This is an entertaining work intended to introduce younger folks to a range of puzzles, parlour games, and 'indoor amusements'. This work is a companion volume to 'Cassell's Book for Sports and Pastimes', in that it is similar to the earlier volume but with a focus upon indoor games. 

    Contents include 'Bound or Parlour Games', 'Toy Games and Toy-Making', 'Mechanical Puzzles', and 'Card Games'.

    Undated, so dated from Jisc from a copy held at the National Trust Libraries, as well as from an ink inscription from the front endpaper, from prior owner Winnie Chiloc. 

    Includes sixteen pages of publisher's adverts to rear of text.

    Collated, complete.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. A bit of edgewear to the extremities and head and tail of spine, with fading to the spine. A few marks to the boards, particularly the rear board. Internally, firmly bound, with binding loosening a bit more towards the middle of the text. Pages are bright and clean throughout, with the odd spot particularly to the first and last few pages.
