The first edition of this facsimile of Carroll's original manuscript of the novel with later became 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'.
The second issue, with white endpapers.
A faithful reproduction of Lewis Carroll's manuscript, offering a wonderful insight into the enduring children's tale. Carroll was inspired to pick up his pen after taking the Liddell children out to a river, beginning this manuscript the very next day.
Complete with the original pen drawings of Carroll, which later inspired John Tenniel in his illustrations for the published novel.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Front board and spine are faded, with light fading to the head of the rear board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A few light marks to the boards. Gift inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Three of the illustrations have been hand-coloured by a prior owner.
