Description

Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

Very scarce in physical form. The Yorkshire Philosophical Society or YPS was founded in 1822, with the aim of promoting public engagement with natural and social sciences. The term 'philosophical' is meant as 'scientific' as per the early 19th century definition of the word. The society itself sets out an extensive lecture program throughout the year, publishing an annual report collating this information. The society is still active to this day, and organises numerous lectures throughout the year and are open to the generally public. With one illustrated plate to the rear of 1887 report.

Condition
