Tom Brown's School-days by an old boy (Thomas Hughes), with a preface to the sixth edition. Originally published in 1857, it follows a story set at Rugby School and is based on the author's real experiences. 

Wanderings in South America by Charles Waterton, edited with a biographical introduction and explanatory index by Rev. J. G. Wood. An intriguing book following the author's adventurous travels in Guiana, West Indies. Originally published in 1825.

Old Christmas: From the Sketch-Book of Washington Irving, with some charming old English traditions. With illustrations by Randolph Caldecott.

Bracebridge Hall by Washington Irving, originally published in 1821. An episodic novel comprised of a series of character sketches with numerous individual plots. Illustrated by Randolph Caldecott. 

The whole work is fully illustrated with numerous vignettes by Arthur Hughes, Sydney Prior Hall, Randolph Caldecott, et al.
