Later edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece, a folding map, and many in-text images. Collated complete. A detailed collection of biblical illustrations and sketches from the scenes and scenery of the Holy Land, describing the author's experiences and observations during his travels. With chapters on Phoenicia, Northern Palestine, Sharon, Philistia, and Southern Palestine. Written by William McClure Thomson (31 December 1806, in Springdale, Ohio – 8 April 1894, in Denver, Colorado) was an American Protestant missionary who worked in Ottoman Syria. Bound by Relfe Brothers, London.

Condition

In the original full black calf. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Fading to the spine. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot or handling mark. A 1" closed tear to the folding map. Bound by Relfe Brothers, London.
