The work is intended to present a series of life-size representation of ferns, including information on their characteristics and habitats. The ferns discussed in this work include the royal fern, the true maidenhair, the holly fern, the little adder's tongue, the alpine bladder fern, the parsley fern, the alpine polypody, the oblong woodsia, and more. Illustrated with fifteen colour plates. Written and illustrated by Francis George Heath. Heath also wrote 'All About Leaves', 'The English Peasantry', 'The Fern World', 'Our Woodland Trees' and more. Collated, complete.

Condition

In a full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Some light marks to the boards, with some ink marks to the rear board. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Some marks to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot.
