Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

A very scarce work.

A collection of nine short stories by William Russell; the longest story in the collection is 'Tales of the Coast-Guard', a gripping account of the life of a coast guard and the many adventures he encounters in his profession.

The other stories are 'Circumstantial Evidence', 'Confessions of a Bashful Miss', 'First Quarrels', 'Paddy the Tinker', 'Phoebe Grant', 'Taffy Lewin's Greenerie', 'The Two Empresses and the Artist', and 'The Wedding-Ring'.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and four plates.

Russell was a Victorian author who is known for the mystery surrounding his life. Though he published a lot in his life, little his known about him.

Thirty-six pages of illustrated adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. A little rubbing and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Spine is lightly discoloured. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with a few spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the reverse of the frontispiece.
