Published in conjunction with the English Dialect society and the English Folk Lore society, this popular work by Reverend Charles Swainson is a compilation of the vernacular names of British birds. Swainson also shares popular expressions and superstitions associated with British birds, and sometimes compares these with those of other nations.

Condition

Bound in black cloth. Externally, smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards and the spine, with a small white mark to the front board. A little bumped to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from some offsetting to the endpapers, pages are bright and clean.
