Leather Binding, Prize Binding, Rebound

Alexander William Kinglake's first literary venture. A successful work narrating of his travels through Syria, Palestine, and Egypt with his Eton contemporary Lord Pollington, originally published in 1844. 

Prize binding from Harrogate College awarded to W. Croysdale, 1st in the IV form in 1888.

Condition

Rebound in full polished calf binding with five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine, gilt school blind stamp to front board, gilt to edges, new marbled endpapers. Externally smart with minor shelf wear, minor rubbing and chipping to extremities of spine and boards. Prize bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
