Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
Whilst on HMS Alert, Coppinger collected botanical specimens from Magellan Straits landfalls, Tahiti, Fiji, Australia, the Torres Strait Islands, Singapore, and the Seychelles, in addition to gathering extensive zoological collections.
Illustrated with sixteen plates, and a small number of vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.
With the blind stamp of Joesph A. Sadony to the head of the title page. Sadony was a philosopher and spiritualist, known for briefly working for Theodore Roosevelt, and his eighty acre estate, named 'The Valley of the Pines', in rural Michigan.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with fading to back strip. Hinges starting, with boards holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Blind stamp to head of title page. Pages generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
