Joseph Ernest Renan was a French philosopher, historian, and scholar of religion, renowned as an expert of Semitic languages and civilizations. He is best known for his influential and pioneering historical works on the origins of Early Christianity, and his political theories, especially concerning nationalism and national identity. This work is in French. A fifth edition copy, revised and corrected.

Condition

In a quarter crushed morocco binding with marbled paper boards. Slight rubbing to extremities, raised bands and head and tail of spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to edges but bright and clean, with light scattered spots to extremities of the occasional page. Pages occasionally uncut throughout.
