'Daddy Darwin's Dovecot', a country tale, undated, dated 1884 from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, illustrated title page, and in-text illustrations throughout. Illustrated by Randolph Caldecott.
'Dandelion Clocks and Other Tales', undated, dated 1887 from Jisc from a copy held at the University of Oxford Libraries. Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece, illustrated title page, and in-text illustrations throughout. Illustrated by Gordon Browne and others. One page of publisher's adverts to the rear.
Written by Juliana Horatia Ewing, a popular writer of children's stories. She wrote sympathetic works for children, often morally guiding them.
Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper of 'Dandelion Clocks'.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Light marks and discolouration to the boards and spine. Some loss of paper to the spines and joints. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Front hinge of 'Daddy Darwin's Dovecot' is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper of 'Dandelion Clocks'. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with just a few light spots.
