Hans Christian Andersen's delightful classic fairy tale, 'The Snow Queen', which tells the story of main character Gerda's, and her friend Kai's, struggle between good and evil. It is one of Andersen's most well-known children's tales and has been reprinted frequently over the last two centuries.
The first edition thus of this work.
Illustrated by T. Pym, the pseudonym for Victorian artist Clara Creed, with five full-page illustrations and numerous in-text illustrations, all in colour.
Hans Christian Andersen was a nineteenth-century Danish author who is most remembered for his prolific fairy tales, including 'The Emperor's New Clothes', 'The Little Mermaid', 'The Princess and the Pea', and more.
Condition
In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. A few small splits to the cloth on the joints. Some loss to the paper binding at the extremities, and a small amount of loss to the binding at the tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. A closed tear and a small amount of loss to the head of the front free-endpaper. Scattered spots to the pages.
