A very scarce work, rebound in an attractive half calf, with the original title page retained and professionally laid down, along with the first leaf.

Detailing the conflict between the British Justice Norris and native Bengalee population over what constitutes 'contempt of court', proving an interesting study on the tension between cultures during the rule of the British Empire.

Containing extracts from newspaper articles and legal documents.

Condition

Rebound in half calf, with gilt detailing and cloth covered boards. Minor loss to the leather at front board and joint. Internally, a little tightly bound. Title page and first leaf professionally laid down. Pages age toned. Fairly significant worming throughout, occasionally affecting the text.
