1883 La Poupee
What Our Customers Say...
Description
The title page states this is a 'Exemplaire Unique' and the final leaf states this was printed 'A Mademoiselle Marie Louise Pailleron'. Therefore this work was created by Pailleron for his daughter. Marie-Louise Pailleron became a noted historian and one of her works is 'Revue des deux mondes'.
The National Library of France holds the only other discoverable copy of this pre-publication edition of 'La Poupee' accompanied by a letter from the author authorising one 'M Mare' to print another copy. This appears to be that other copy. Both copies say 'Exemplaire Unique' to the title page.
Illustrated throughout, with vignettes throughout.
Condition
In a contemporary limp calf binding. Externally, generally smart with a few marks to the boards. Light rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slight;y age toned. Minor cockling to the pages. Just the odd spots.
