A collection of eleven essays written by the Rev. M. G. Watkins, all on the topic of nature and the countryside, with titles including 'Devon Lanes and their Associations', 'Up Glen Roy', 'Amongst the Heather' and 'Sunshine at the Land's End'.
This copy belonged to Lincolnshire-based author and historian, Terence R. Leach, who was gifted the book by another Lincolnshire author, the folklorist and historian, Ethel Rudkin. With a letter tipped-in, written to Rudkin from Peter B. G. Binnall, Canon of Lincoln.
With the bookplates of Terence Leach and C. J. Sturman.
An article from The Antiquary, written by M. G. Watkins on the subject of folklore, tipped-in to the rear of the work, partially obscuring the view of the publisher's advertisements and press notices.
With twenty pages of advertisements to the rear.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's cloth. Externally, generally smart, with light bumping to the extremities and a little rubbing to joints and spine. Light mark to rear board. Hinges are strained, but holding firm. Bookplates to front paste down and letter tipped-in to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd mark or spot. Pencil note to title page and front endpaper, with article tipped-in to final 7 pages of publisher's advertisements, rear endpaper and paste down.
