    'Hawthorne' is a literary criticism work, focussing on the American author Hawthorne. In this work, Henry James analysis and considers each of Hawthorne's works, as well as reviewing Hawthorne's life and some of his non-fiction works. Hawthorne is best known for his novel 'The Scarlet Letter'. Written by Henry James, a nineteenth century American novelist. He is considered to be a key figure in the transition between literary realism and literary modernism. He is often considered to be one of the greatest novelist in the English language. With four pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.

    In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light discolouration and marking to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small amount of loss to the spine label. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
