Illustrated just under six-hundred vignette engravings, and with six engraved plates to volumes one - including one folding and one coloured - and seven to volume two, including two colour plates, one folding and one double page.
Collated, lacking one plate to volume II: 'The Scribe, Louvre'.

Condition
In half morocco signed bindings, with paper covered boards. Rubbing to board perimeters and joints, resulting in minor losses to the leather. Ink marks to fore edge of text blocks. Front and rear hinge of volume I, and front hinge of volume II starting, with boards holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with scattered spotting. With the odd notation to page perimeters.
