Comprising: Volume I (January-June 1883); Volume II (July-December 1883); Volume III (January-June 1884); Volume IV (July-December 1884); Volume V (January-June 1885); Volume VIII (July-December 1886); Volume IX (January-June 1887); Volume XI (January-June 1888); and Volume XIII (January-June 1889). With bookseller's labels for John Barker and Co, Kensington, to the rear pastedowns of Volumes IX, XI, and XIII. Featuring numerous photographic portraits (the majority tissue guarded), including frontispieces to Volumes VIII, IX, XI, and XIII. With a number of illustrations in the text. There are theatrical advertising supplements to each volume.
In uniform cloth bindings. Externally, slightly bumped, with slight shelfwear. Several small closed tears to tops and tails of spines. Volume I has some splitting to cloth. Three hinges strained, with one hinge slightly strained. Hinges of Volume VIII rather strained and a bit weak. Internally, generally firmly bound, with intermittent foxing to pages and plates, prominent to fore-edge, margins, and first and last few pages.
