Charles Reade's most famous work, a historical novel set during the fifteenth century, narrating of the travels of a young scribe through Europe. Known as Arthur Conan Doyle's favourite novel. Originally serialised in Once a Week magazine, it was first published in 1861. A new edition. 



Condition

Rebound in half calf over cloth covered boards. Externally smart with minor shelf wear only, light rubbing to head and tail of spine and extremities, boards lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to first and last few leaves, pages otherwise bright and clean.
