Description
Author's Presentation Copy, Colour Plates, Folding Plates, Illustrated, Rebound, Scarce, Signed
A detailed collection of pamphlets and article excepts regarding archaeology and antiquity, in various languages including Italian, German, French, Greek, and English. All of these works were published between 1882 and 1902, and in various journals, periodicals, and published by numerous institutes.
This volume was personally compiled by nineteenth-century Scottish archaeologist and antiquary, Alexander Stuart Murray (1841-1904). Murray was well-known for his various archaeological excavations, particularly in Cyprus. He also worked at the British Museum as an assistant in the department of Greek and Roman antiquities under Sir Charles Newton.
This is a truly unique and fascinating compilation of archaeological articles and excerpts, all which are scarce, and many of which are inscribed by the authors to Alexander Stuart Murray himself.
Also including numerous illustrated plates, some in colour and some folding, bound in.
