The first edition of this work, a lovely pocket sized almanac for 1883, featuring colourful illustration by Victorian popular artist Kate Greenaway and some lovely poems.
Greenaway was known for her drawings of children in imaginary eighteenth century costumes in a Queen Anne style; her work was very popular, and imitated in England, Germany, and the United States.
Richly illustrated in colour with designs by Kate Greenaway, both in text as well as with a frontispiece and five full page plates: one for the old year and one for each season. Collated, complete.

Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding over pictorial paper covered boards. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Illustrated in colour both in text as well as with a frontispiece and five full page plates.
